Auctioneers Notes: It was a pleasure to drive down to Bishops Lydeard to meet the vendor and his family, not forgetting the dog, to view this restored 1973 Morgan 4-Seater Sports powered by the trustworthy 1600 cc Crossflow engine in GT spec. These 4-Seater sport cars are rare.

We are confident that the mileage is correct at 82,951 from new, it is backed up by a comprehensive service history/invoices which include the MOT history from 1976 mileage 26,702 (17 MOT certificates) to 05 mileage 80,554 plus DVLA MOT history from 07, mileage 80,977 to September ’18 mileage 82,945 – there are 9 MOT’s in the printout. Whoever the new owner is will have a stack of invoices from June ’73 mileage shown at 5109 to the present day. It will keep the new owner occupied for hours reading it.

The vendor purchased this car in 2005 and is only selling due to health problems. The car was supplied new by Allon White & Sons, Morgan agents, to a Mr. S.B. Barnes of Kingsthorpe who started the history file and she comes with the original letters and invoices from A.W.Sons showing the price when new at £1789.68. In total there were 4 previous owners to the vendor and they have all contributed to the history file. Incidentally, there is a letter dated December ’89 that it took 4 years for the renovation to be completed. The vendor spent £3,189.13 in August ’16 for recommissioning the vehicle, which included a reconditioned gear box by the well-known Morgan Specialist, Tim Ayres Ltd.
