Morris 8 SI Tourer 1937

By July 1, 2014 No Comments

Morris 8 SI Tourer 1937 entered into the July 25th Classic Car Auction.

My wife and I went to Pembroke to meet Mrs Jones. She is a spritely 77 year old SI Morris 8 two-seater tourer, finished in green with black wings and green trim and runs on the correct wire wheels. The vendor has owned the car for 4 years and is now downsizing his collection of cars. He has carried out improvements including fitting a series E engine (shell bearings), bills with history file. It is worth noting the previous owner had the car for 50 years. We have the buff log book and old MOT’s back to 1981 and a few tax discs from ’78. She has carried out numerous charity events and raised a good deal of money and she proudly opened the A477 trunk road, posters in file. The Morris 8 Tourer produced 23.5 bhp, could reach 58mph and could return 40 plus to the gallon. Well equipped as standard included electric wipers and hydraulic brakes that put the 8 above the Austin 7 and the “Y” model Ford. She is not mint but she still looks very good for her age and will give the next owners lots of fun. She still turns heads wherever she goes, not unlike Dolly Parton.
