MG TD 1951

By July 7, 2014 No Comments

MG TD 1951 entered into the October 31st Classic Car Auction.

Very straight rust free car (no salt on the roads in Ireland!). According to the MG T Register, chassis no TD6419 was supplied to Ireland as a CKD kit .This was then assembled by Booth Bros. in Dublin, one of only 30 produced in that year. Unusually the car is trimmed in black with black hood and side screens – a feature of the Irish assembled cars. Previous owner had car since 1998. He purchased the car from Martins Bros. of Mullingar Co Westmeath who were British Leyland Dealers and had the car on display in their showroom for many years. Recently repainted to concours standards. Expensive recommissioning just completed by marque specialist Robert Lovell-Butt including new clutch, timing chain and  carb rebuild. An interesting aside is an entry from 1969 in his father’s diary (renowned classic racer, Dickie Lovell-Butt) shows they had previously purchased this very car for £100 and subsequently resold it for £150! A brass plaque on the engine states is a factory replacement from Morris Motors.

Please note: Any purchaser from the Irish Republic – the return shipping cost to the Republic will be covered by the vendor.
