Daimler SP 250 V8 1959

Daimler SP 250 v8 1959 entered into the October 31st Classic Car Auction.

I went into deepest Wiltshire to see this lovely car.  The SP 250’s were built between 1959 – 1964.  Although registered in 1960 it has been accepted by the DVLA that she was manufactured in 1959 and, therefore, exempt from MOT’s.  These cars were built on a separate chassis with a fibre glass body and the power unit is a 2.5 lit V8 and to harness all this power, 140 bhp, she had disc brakes all round.  The performance was excellent for that time, top speed 123.7 mph and 0 – 60 in 8.9 seconds.  The engine is immaculate and so smooth and quiet and no wonder with bills (plus photographic records) totalling £4484 which includes machining and balancing plus a further invoice for £3402 for rebuilding of the cylinder heads and new alloy radiators, and a further bill for £2764  for suspension, brake and steering overhaul.  The history file goes on and on including old buff log books, heritage certificate, old MOT’s and a massive number of bills for the chassis restoration carried out in the nineties.  She has a new hood and carpets.  The seats are original leather and have great patina. The body work is in good order, she sits on original Pirelli tyres with good tread, they may need replacing.  The SP 250’s are fast appreciating, viewing from the 10th October.  Put this on your list to buy.
