Supplied new to a Mr Clive Ford who kept the car until       02-05-2018. This history alone makes it rather special and unique. (Note: V5 shows 3 former keepers, although one of these is the vendor who repurchased the car.) Built between 16th and 25th June 1965 and dispatched to Carey and Lambert Ltd,  Southampton  who did not sell/register the car until 05-07-1967 – two years following build date. This sadly was not an uncommon pattern for this particular model in a highly competitive sub £2000 market. In fact, the supplying dealer fitted a Rolls Royce Grill and      Mascot to the car and this was a feature seen on a number of such cars sold at the time…possibly as an incentive to boost slow sales? (Note: RR Grill/Mascot not included in auction).

The well organised and informative accompanying history file includes the Drivers Handbook, Manuals, Invoices and receipts ( earliest dated 1978) and other period articles/information as well as VPOC correspondence and DVLA and MOT documentation. The vendor has undertaken  substantial restoration/re-commisssion /service works at considerable expense to include: replacement boot carpet, all round wood re-veneering and  lacquering by Chapman and Cliff  (RR/Bentley), re-chroming to rear bumpers and lights,  reconditioned radiator, carburetors , new brakes/tyres and much more. Finally, the car was repainted to original specifations before returning to the road in 2019. The car would also appear to have had some welding underneath in the past but this not initiated by the vendor.
Mr Clive Ford donated the car to the VPOC in 2018 and the vendor purchased the vehicle directly from the club through a donation to club funds. The vendor was delighted to re-unite Clive with his car during a pre-arranged meeting in June 2019. Clive aged 91 was accompanied by his wife aged 93, who described him as her “toyboy”! It was a very enjoyable and special occasion Mr Ford has confirmed the history and mileage as correct.

INTERESTING FOOTNOTE: The Rolls-Royce Grill and Mascot  is no longer with the car, having been purchased by a Rolls-Royce Grill and Mascot Museum in France.

Auctioneers notes: This lot forms part of a larger collection, built up over a number of years by the vendor who has decided, due to advancing years, to slim down his collection. We are very pleased to be the Auction House he selected.
They are, without exception, in  far above average condition and will enhance anybody’s classic portfolio whether this is your first classic or you are adding to your existing stable.
View please, strictly by appointment.
