1965 Triumph TR4A IRS 78,715 (Not Warranted) £19750 + buyers premium

Description:

Truimph TR4A IRS 1965

It was a pleasure to meet the lady vendor who explained to me why she is selling this excellent example of a TR4A which is purely because of the lack of use and time.

This rare TR4A was built on the 29th October 1965 and sold in Nevada, Las Vegas in 1967. It was believed to have been sympathetically dry stored in Las Vegas from 1969 until 2013 which explains the remarkable rust free and non sun damaged original condition. The mileage of 78,715 may well be correct.
The car was successfully sprinted under SCCA Regulations and four trophies come with the car. Probably to keep it under the 2000cc Class, it was fitted with 86mm TR4 pistons and liners.
It also has twin 40 DCOE Weber carburettors on a 4 branch extractor manifold. The engine has a high lift camshaft, polished/ported cylinder head, original dynamo, wide V belt and oil cooler. The TR4 has recently been professionally set up and rolling road tuned by Steve Harris at Janspeed in Salisbury and produces in excess of 100 BHP.

Non overdrive and IRS (independant rear suspension) which is very rare for a left hand drive US specification TR4A.

A no expense spared restoration and recommissioning was undertaken in 2013 with a bare metal repaint in the original black. The car has been fully rebuilt with new and upgraded competition parts throughout (please see the history file). The history file comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate issued to the previous owner here in the UK which states that the vehicle was manufactured on 29.10.1965 but as per the DVLA V5 certificate is states that the vehicle was declared manufactured in 1967.

It is very unusual to find a TR4 which has not required extensive body restoration. In the past two years, the vendor a private lady owner, has had the TR4 totally Waxoiled and various upgrades carried out by Southern Truimph Services. The car has been carefully stored in a heated garage and connected to an intelligent battery charger.

Estimated Sale Price – £18,500 to £19,750

Auctioneers Notes

This is a very straight example finished in Deep Black with Black trim.  Not concourse but a real beauty.  Excellent history file of recent work carried out and comes complete with Handbook, Workshop Manual and the original radio not fitted.  The vehicle can be viewed as from now.
