1972 | Rover | 2000 SC | 86,099 (Warranted) | ££1800 + buyers premium | |
Description:Description from The Vendor: This car has had one owner from 1972-2019, it’s last MOT was the 18/9/18 and was valued in 2013 at £5500. The car has full-service history and all receipts, two sets of keys, drivers handbook and toolset, 5 new tyres and a new battery. I purchased the car in 2019 with a view to restoring it but old age has beaten me.
Auctioneer’s notes: The providence of this car is excellent and I think she deserves to be restored. The history file is complete with every invoice from new, 26 service stamps in 2 “Rover Passport Service Books” The original order form, a good number of Rover Car Club magazines and a number of old tax discs (although she has been taxed since 2012), and she even has a Rover Colour Chart (original) She was originally sold to Mrs. S. Philips of Chester on 31.8.74. Total price when new, including purchase tax £1934.15. These cars were quite revolutionary in design in their day, not unlike in some ways to the Citroen DS. These cars broke away from “the aunty image” which Rover had over the years. They were built around a base frame which is extremely strong and all the panels were bolted on, which made repairs very easy. The front suspension is unique having horizontal front coil springs and the rear suspension is a sliding tube de Dion. I think that these cars are undervalued and I feel this is going to change. They are very nice to drive and they are genuine 4 seater sports saloons and they will hit a 100 MPH, where allowed. Slight rust on the bottom of the doors. Sold with no reserve. |
