The vendor inherited this vehicle from a friend Janice, on her death in May 1998. She had in turn inherited it from her late former husband Kenneth. Ken inherited the vehicle from his late aunt, who had owned the vehicle from new, it is understood, having purchased it from Lymington Garage, Hants.
Ken’s family owned a farm in Hants and for the ten years prior to the vendor inheriting the vehicle, it was stored in a barn on the farm. Unfortunately, no paperwork for the vehicle was found to hand over to the vendor when he inherited it. It will be seen from the vendor’s papers relating to the vehicle that the mileage was 47,000 at that time, so that during his 22 years of ownership he has added only just over 10,000 miles. Without the paperwork from prior to the vendor’s ownership we cannot guarantee the mileage but it is believed the reading is correct.
There is a complete set of MOT certificates for the vendor’s period of ownership, up to 2018, when the requirement for testing was abolished. There is also a complete set of invoices for all the repairs and servicing he has had carried out. The vendor had the vehicle converted to unleaded petrol in 1999 with new exhaust valves and valve seats; the invoice for that is amongst the papers.
The vendor has always kept the car garaged but storage has become a problem since he moved home on his retirement in 2016, as he now has no garage. Since then he has kept the vehicle in his mother’s garage but that is not going to be available to him to use for much longer, which has contributed to his decision to sell.
Auctioneers notes: This is a remarkable example of a rover 2000 with fantastic providence, its ownership from new is all recorded in the file. The first 3 owners were all related and the vendor who inherited the car in 1998 was a close friend. It has a current V5C and older registration books which all help to build a picture of the car’s life. The condition of the interior is in keeping with the mileage, it really is excellent. She is a real beauty and may be viewed by appointment.
