Supplied new to Lindegard in Gloucester. Known history as follows: Owned by a Mr R W Williams of Bicester in 1985, he sent the car to be restored with a Mr Greenwood at Deddington High Street Garage in Oxford and this was carried out until April 1987 when they secured the car against non payment of bills with the owner having gone back to America. Mr Greenwood’s son James made enquires to Mark Balwin at the Morgan Motor Co and received a fax giving build details with a hand written note and stating it has a different engine from the original. An advert was placed in the Lenham Sports Register magazine for the Morgan in component form. It was then bought by Richard Thorne Morgan garage and advertised for sale as a rebuild project with the different engine in 2010. It was sold to a private customer who did very little until trading it in against a Lotus Elan to Allon Whites Morgan Garage in Bucks. They advertised it for sale as a project in 2012 at which point it was purchased by the previous owner Mr Sumner who set about rebuilding the car. This included an std engine and gearbox in 2015, rear axle uprated to Salisbury 7HA 4.1/1 ratio, engine changed to 1200cc pre x/flow, gearbox 5 speed Ford type 9. As there was no proof the old registration of VFH11 exists a new one was issued 682UYL.
In 2019 the car was purchased by the vendor, a Morgan enthusiast. His intention was to enhance the car however unfortunately ill health have intervened and he is now forced to sell. The removed engine and gearbox are included for overhaul along with a bonnet.

Auctioneers notes: This is a truly stunning Morgan 4/4. She has been completely restored including the ash frame etc and on file there is a comprehensive picture record of the restoration. We are informed by the vendor that the underside of the car is as clean as the bodywork. She comes with a useful workshop manual and other articles which will be of use to the new owner. The Morgan 4/4 ceased production in 1960 and originally had a Ford side valve engine producing 36 BHP and that great power was driven through a 3-speed gear box. This lovely car has had a modification carried out. The side valve engine and gear box were removed and a 1200 cc OHV engine of the type used in a Ford Anglia 1200 and in standard form that engine produced 48 BHP. The car, you will note, has a twin choke, down draft carb. and a 4 branch sports exhaust, and I would suggest that this would increase the BHP considerably. I phoned the vendor to see if he could throw any light on the tuning of this engine. Sadly, the person he bought the car from promised to send all papers over but that was not carried out, plus he moved house. The vendor went on to say he finds her very nippy and with the 5-speed gear box will cruise at 70 mph and apparently he thinks it had plenty in reserve. I cant emphasize enough how good this little car is, and when allowed, viewing strictly by appointment.
