Jaguar XK8 Convertible 1998

The vendor’s husband who is a long time member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club bought this car for her as a special present for her 70th birthday in August 2018. The car was purchased new by a lady in May 1998 and she kept it until April 2001 when it was sold to its second owner via a Jaguar main dealer (HA Fox) with a mileage of 17,900 miles.
The second owner was also a long-term member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club and took great care of the car always keeping it garaged and only used in the summer months. Due to the Nikasil issue which affected some cars, a new steel linered engine was fitted by HA Fox as a precautionary measure in June 2002 when the mileage was 20,960 which is documented in the service book. He only covered about 2000 miles annually in the summer months had the car serviced every year by Jaguar main dealers and subsequently at David Marks Garages (a renowned Jaguar specialist). Due to a long term illness he only drove the car on rare occasions from 2011 to 2018, covering just 2,500 miles during that period and had a Jaguar trained mechanic come to his home  and give it small services.
The vendor’s husband wanted to find the very best example available and when they went to see the car she tells us was absolutely thrilled at the condition of it. Her husband inspected it very thoroughly and it was also put on a ramp to check the underside which had been professionally undersealed – it was clear that it had never been welded and in fact the underside condition was just as good as above! The only concern her husband had were the tyres which were 17 years old. The vendor also tells us she was very taken with the Carnival Red paintwork and white leather interior and it had never been smoked in which was another plus.
It had a mileage of 34,838 when they bought it and the vendor let her husband drive it home. He had it MOT’d at 35,430 miles (no advisories) and fully serviced at their trusted local garage who look after all of their cars at 35,474 miles. No issues were found at all and naturally 4 brand new matching tyres were fitted.
The mileage is now still under 36,000 so in the vendor’s ownership it has covered less than 1,000 miles and always been kept garaged.  The only reason for sale is that the vendor finds it a bit too large for her, so her husband has offered to get her something smaller. “I’m sure that the new owner will really enjoy this beautiful car”
