The vehicle was supplied new by Trinity Motors to the Alan Nutall Partnerhsip Ltd as personal transport for the managing director, the vehicle features all of the period optional extras such as headlamp was/wipe, lattice alloy wheels, heated electric seats, electric aerial and cassette player.
The car changed hands twice before being purchased by Mr Boyd of Coventry, an enthusiastic collector in 1997, who used the car sparingly and kept it in a heated garage along with his Ferrari and other exotica during his 18 year ownership of the car.
In 2015 with failing health Mr Boyd sold off his collection and the XJS was purchased by its present owner having been off the road since 2011. By this time the car required extensive recommissioning commensurate with its age and lack of use. The car has benefited from a new full stainless steel exhaust, new rear brakes, new hydraulic hoses all round, new shock absorbers, front suspension and steering bushes and ball joints. The car was fully serviced before returning to the road. The car performs well and sailed through its last MOT in December with no advisories.
With the values of classic Jaguars soaring and the recent rediscovery of the XJS in the classic car world this late pre-facelift car represents the most successful period of production of the model in its purest and most desirable form.
