The Brooklands 280 Capri was a limited built car, 1038 in total, this one being number 737. This car was owned by the chairman of the CCI in the late 80’s and was a concourse show winner at this time , the car was sold in the early 90’s with a confirmed very low 18,000 (approx) miles ( please see included in the history file the photo copy of the Capri club cutting featuring this car March 1993).
The last owners of this car were a Mr Keith and Sue Smith from Golomeldon nr Salisbury in Wiltshire who were Ford enthusiasts owning up to 4 Capris at one time in the nineties, this car being their pride and joy and only using it for car shows each year from the early nineties up to 2016, unfortunately now Mr Smith is no longer well enough to drive or care for his beloved Brooklands Capri. The car has only covered a genuine 28,400 miles from new backed up by old MOT’s back to 1994 and also insurance agreed valuations showing mileages and dates.
Mr Keith Smith maintained this car himself to the highest standards servicing the car every year of ownership regardless of the miles covered, some years covering under 200 miles.
The car is a original unrestored example with all original panels and glass. The car is completely corrosion free and never had any due to being waxed oiled in its early life. The 15″ factory alloy wheels are original condition and fitted with a matched set of Pirelli P6000 tyres. The exterior paintwork still looks near perfect as if the car was just a couple of years old, and the Sue Smith ( previous owner) assures the vendor the car has had no paintwork in the 23 years of the their ownership. The under bonnet condition is stunning and very original. The underside of the car is also very original with all its original suspension components. The car was also fitted with optional electric windows / central locking and front fog lights. Yale security locks were also fitted for added security when these cars were among the favourites to the joy riders in the 80’s and 90’s.
This is probably one of the most original genuinely low mileage unrestored examples left, as near perfect as you could find and a real joy to drive.
