This Austin Metro Vanden Plas was part of the Stondon Museum collection, and so was in nice condition when then vendor acquired it. (V5 still shows Stondon as last keeper). The vendor has since gone right through it, removing the engine, stripping the suspension and brakes, and paying particular attention to the bodywork to return it to a near new condition. The engine has been given a new clutch, hoses, belt etc and has been sympathetically modified with some cylinder head work and the addition of twin 1 1/2″ SU carbs. (The engine in standard form is the MG Metro 1275 big valve version). The car drives very nicely and the extra power makes for easy modern style driving. A bit of a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. There is a full service history, and together with the Stondon provenance will warrant the mileage of 62000. Comes with a fresh MOT with no advisories. Good history file with photographs of the recent work carried out. One of only 24 remaining on the road and probably the best. The original steering wheel, carburetor and associated parts have been retained and will be supplied with the car.
